Hello. My name is Stephen Hawking. Physicist, cosmologist and something of a dreamer. Although I cannot move and I have to speak through a computer, in my mind I am free. Free to explore the universe and ask the big questions, such as: is time travel possible? Can we open a portal to the past or find a shortcut to the future? Can we ultimately use the laws of nature to become masters of time itself?
Time travel was once considered scientific heresy. I used to avoid talking about it for fear of being labelled a crank. But these days I’m not so cautious. In fact, I’m more like the people who...

Too tipsy or tired to drive yourself home? GM’s Electric Networked Vehicle (EN-V) can help. The concept vehicle platform, an extension of the Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility (P.U.M.A.) prototype that was developed by Segway last year, is like a personal form of public transportation.
GM explains:
EN-V, which is short for Electric Networked-Vehicle, maintains the core principle of personal mobility -– freedom –- while helping remove the motor vehicle from the environmental debate and redefining design leadership. EN-V is a two-seat electric vehicle that was designed to alleviate...

Why California Is Doomed (March 9, 2010)
California is doomed for two simple but profound reasons: the cost structure is too high for most businesses to survive, and a boom-dependent economy.
The dysfunctions crippling California would easily fill a volume: a dysfunctional Legislature that has been gerrymandered to protect virtually every seat; a dysfunctional proposition system which enables special interests to craft Protected Fiefdoms via the ballot box; recalcitrant public unions who don’t see anything wrong with public servants getting 90% of top-pay in pensions while still earning big...

What Is HAARP?
The official HAARP facility is located in Gakuna, Alaska. The site consists of a collection of antennae, arranged in a computer-controlled grid, known as a “phased array.” A phased array has the ability to focus radio signals in a precise direction, without the necessity of turning the antennae. Modern radar systems no longer use the revolving dish that we have come to recognize. The new radar antennae, which rely on phased arrays, look more like the flat screen of a drive-in movie, speckled with small umbrella-like antennae in neat rows. The phased array in HAARP is not a...

Most people want to make the world a better place. I suspect that you do. Would it not be wonderful to live in a world where there is peace and prosperity for all… everyone has the opportunity to succeed… where everyone honors everyone else and their beliefs… a world that works for everyone?
So how do we get that world? As I know, you know, it begins with each and everyone of us. It begins with our own thoughts, our words, our deeds. It begins in our own consciousness as we shift how we look at the world. We let go of focusing our awareness on where the world is less than what we want turning...

Should we add hybrid cars to the list of things that emit unsafe amounts of radiation? A research committee funded by Israel’s Ministry of Environmental Protection thinks so. The committee studied radiation emitted from various hybrid vehicles over the past nine months with some disturbing results: the current generation Prius is safe, but the Honda Insight, Civic Hybrid, and previous generations of Prius’s all emit “surplus” radiation. full...

First, they teleported photons, then atoms and ions. Now one physicist has worked out how to do it with energy, a technique that has profound implications for the future of physics.
In 1993, Charlie Bennett at IBM’s Watson Research Center in New York State and a few pals showed how to transmit quantum information from one point in space to another without traversing the intervening space.
The technique relies on the strange quantum phenomenon called entanglement, in which two particles share the same existence. This deep connection means that a measurement on one particle immediately influences...

California’s largest for-profit health insurer is dramatically raising rates setting off a furor among policyholders and prompting state insurance regulators to investigate.
Anthem Blue Cross is telling its approximately 800,000 customers not covered by group rates — that its prices will go up March 1 and may be adjusted “more frequently” than its typical yearly increases.
Premium increases of 30% to 39%, are being put into effect, on the heels of similar jumps last year. Many policyholders say the rate hikes are the largest they can remember.
“I’ve never seen...

AVON, Colo. (AP) – Holy smoke! That’s the basis of Trevor Douglas’ marijuana defense.
He claims pot is a sacrament.
The Avon, Colo. man says he belongs to the THC Ministry and maintains he’s being prosecuted for his religious beliefs.
He was pulled over by a state trooper for an expired license plate.
Authorities say he had less than an ounce of pot on him, as well as a pipe. Douglas is due in court March...

If you shop, have a job, or own any investments, you’re a capitalist. But are you a conscious capitalist?
